I love getting postcards from readers, especially when they come from places featured in the Byways books. Yesterday, I came home to a pile of mail from several different states. (I’ll share more about that later.) And I wanted to feature one that figures prominently into Byways, Book #4 Up the Mountain: A Ganix Johns Adventure.
The mountain Ganix climbs in the story is called Stone Mountain, and it’s named for the real Stone Mountain. For those who may not know about this natural wonder, Stone Mountain looks like someone dropped a smooth rock smack dab onto the map. It’s big, it’s granite, and it’s fun to climb. (Yep, I’ve been there myself a few times. Good memories!)
Thank you, Soleil!
If you haven’t read Up the Mountain yet, you really should! There are lots of other details from Georgia tucked into the book, like peach trees in bloom, boiled peanuts, a donkey called Dixie, grits, and two sisters named Miss Alpharetta and Miss Marietta. ORDER INFORMATION >>
Have you taken part in the Hometown Challenge? Send me a postcard from your neck of the woods, and I’ll send back an exclusive postcard. More details >>
I didn’t realize it was in the book! It definitely is unique!
