BYWAYS: Sketches for Book #3

Byways Entries

Coming Soon. This fall, I’ll be releasing the next three books in the Byways series, one for each brother. Between now and then, I’m offering peeks at some of the details that are falling into place. Story snippets. Character introductions. Cover reveals. Today, I bring more of Hannah Christenson’s sketches, this time for Byways Book #3. Over the Bridge is Zane‘s first solo adventure.

As you’ve probably noticed, Hannah does more than the cover illustrations. Her art also appears at the head of each chapter. For the digital books, these details from the story are in full color. Here’s a peek at a couple of Over the Bridge illustrations at the sketch phase…

Byways 3, sketches

Each of the Johns brothers has their own approach to life (and the race). This is especially true for Zane, whose independent streak is wider than the Wilds. He does things in his own way. He tests his limits. And Zane is happiest when facing down danger. Something that’s pretty obvious from Hannah’s final sketch for the cover of Over the Bridge

Over the Bridge, Lineart

Zane Johns and his best friend Jovan are searching for one more person for their team. At their first waypoint, they hear a rumor about a blacksmith who wants to move West. A visit to the forge brings one surprise after another.
